United Nations Human Rights Council

The Human Rights Council is an inter-governmental body within the United Nations system responsible for strengthening the promotion and protection of human rights around the globe and for addressing situations of human rights.

Canada participates in UNHRC meetings through the Department of Foreign Affairs. Along with other civil society organizations, CFUW participates in 2-3 consultations annually with Foreign Affairs officials from Ottawa and Geneva to discuss the HRC programme of work, resolutions, and outcomes. During consultations CFUW offers a focus on women and girls in its interventions.
