United Nations Commission on the Status of Women

The United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the principal global policy-making body dedicated exclusively to gender equality and advancement of women. Every year, representatives of Member States and civil society gather at United Nations Headquarters in New York to evaluate progress on gender equality, identify challenges, set global standards and formulate concrete policies to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment worldwide. The Commission meets once a year in March over a 2 week period.

Join us in New York

Each year CFUW sends a delegation of up to 20 members to attend the Commission on the Status of Women meetings in New York. The opportunity to attend as a delegate is open to all CFUW members, but positions are allocated on a first come, first served basis. The deadline to express interest in a delegate position is late November/early December. Please note that Delegates are responsible for the cost of their own accommodation, travel and meals.

UNCSW62 – 2018

UNCSW 2018 will take place from March 12 to 23 2017 in New York, NY. CFUW sent a delegation of 20 members to attend, network and discuss issues.

  • The Priority theme of the session was the challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls.

The call for application to be part of the CFUW delegation is now closed. For more information contact Robin Jackson at [email protected].

Delegates must arrange for their own transportation and accommodation at their own expense. It should be noted that the UN allows CFUW a limited number of participants so we may not be able to accommodate everyone. Additional information in the form of FAQS may be found here
