Sexual Assault and Violence on Campus

CFUW has always been deeply concerned with the health and well-being of women studying at post-secondary institutions. In 2016, a group of CFUW members interested in sexual assault on campus established a research team to initiate a survey. The survey will study post-secondary institutions to determine if they have a sexual assault policy, and if so, how that policy works in practice. We have developed a questionnaire and will begin initial contact with post-secondary institutions to gather data. In September of this year the Standing Committee on Status of Women initiated a consultation with stakeholders on Violence against Women. CFUW submitted a brief to committee specifically addressing the issue of violence against women on campus, and identifying action the Government could take to remedy the problems.
