United Nations Commission on the Status of Women

The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women. We participate in the CSW every year by submitting a statement to address the Commission and by sending a delegation of our members to engage with the international community on issues of gender equality. CFUW retains special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the Commission’s parent body, and is represented on the Canadian Commission for UNESCO, Education Sectoral Committee.

The sixty-fifth session of the CSW will take place virtually from 15 to 26 March 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

NGO/CSW Parallel Forum

NGO CSW/NY facilitates a platform for the voices and leadership of feminists and women’s rights organizations globally who lobby for their inclusion in the UN deliberations in pursuit of gender equality. The NGO/CSW provides a platform for NGOs to host parallel events to the formal United Nations CSW forum. CFUW routinely hosts parallel events. Click here to register to attend this year’s NGO CSW.
