Environment & Climate Change Town Halls

The United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP26, is taking place between October 31 – Nov 12, the 2021 (26th) in Glasgow, Scotland. Decisions and pledges made at COP26 by all the leaders of the UN member nations that attend will be important steps in the fight to reduce and mitigate climate change. As chair of the CFUW ECC subcommittee I’m leading two ‘town halls’ type events (two to accommodate different schedules of attendees), November 20 at noon ET & 23 at 7pm ET, where all CFUW members who are interested in the environment and climate change are welcome to join in a discussion about where we are in Canada with our climate change efforts, what was pledged by our government at COP26, and how we can use our CFUW voice to speak up, speak out, push governments to meet their pledges and follow through on their decisions made to mitigate climate change in Canada.

The world has seen some important and damaging milestones occurring related to climate change these past years and they are occurring faster than the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) predicted. This is a worrying trend that has led some to call COP26 the “last best hope for the world to get its act together”. More information on COP26:
